Santo Domingo/Madrid (EFE) In this way, “do not pay homage to apprentice rulers of autocrats.”
From Santo Domingo, where the meeting is being held, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, has asked the leader of the PP to immediately and publicly rectify his criticism of attendance at Ibero-American meetings and has been “outraged” with them.
When asking him that the PP has specified that Feijóo was not referring with his words to the participation of Spain in the summit, but to the condescension of the Government of Pedro Sánchez with regimes such as that of Venezuela, is when Albares has asked the popular president to rectify his words.
“They are especially unfortunate in the midst of the meeting of the heads of state and government of the Ibero-American community and at a time of unity for the Ibero-American family,” he added.
The Government has also accused Feijóo of “ignorant and irresponsible” for his statements.

Executive sources have thus responded to the words of the popular leader in which he has said that he feels proud to be with the Spanish-American people and does not miss meeting and “paying homage” to “rulers apprentice autocrats”
A few words that he has pronounced in an act organized in Madrid by the European People’s Party with the Hispanics residing in Spain.
The Government reminds the PP that King Felipe VI is at the Ibero-American summit
Before them, the Government has reminded Feijóo that he forgets that King Felipe VI is present at the Ibero-American summit together with the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, and has urged him to respond if it seems wrong for the monarch to participate in a date like this.
For this reason, they affirm that it does not respect anything or anyone, nor is it aware of the relevance of the Ibero-American summits and of the fact that Spain, together with Portugal, is a country that has two chairs in this type of meeting, in its case that of the Head of State and that of the President of the Government.
In the same way, they have reminded Feijóo that the former president of the Government José María Aznar participated in Ibero-American summits with presidents such as that of Cuba, Fidel Castro.
The leader of the PP has also considered “a diplomatic failure” that the summit between the EU and Latin America and the Caribbean to be held in July in Brussels, during the Spanish six-month presidency of the EU, is not convened in Spain.
Faced with this criticism, Moncloa emphasizes that it once again demonstrates its ignorance because this type of meeting, although it has been promoted by Spain, is called by the president of the European Council, Charles Michel.
The Popular Party demands “immediate rectification” for the criticism of the Executive
For its part, the Popular Party has demanded an “immediate rectification” of the Executive for its criticism of Alberto Núñez Feijóo, after “inventing” that the leader of the PP has censored Spain’s attendance at the Ibero-American summit that is being held in the Dominican Republic.
On his Twitter account, the MEP and Deputy Secretary for Institutional Action of the PP, Esteban González Pons, affirms that “inventing is the last proof of Sánchez’s despair. It is simply FALSE that Feijóo criticizes the attendance at the Ibero-American Summit but the condescension of the Government with different oppressive regimes. We demand an immediate rectification from Moncloa”.
“If Sánchez seeks to coerce the alternative that Feijóo represents with false news, he is wrong. He gives us more reasons to offer Spain a better policy. By the way, today’s event with our Hispanic brothers has been unforgettable. Perhaps that is the explanation of everything…”, according to González Pons.
In addition, in the opinion of the MEP, “when neither Mexico nor Brazil attend the Ibero-American Summit, the Foreign Minister should worry less about Feijóo and more about not repeating the failure of Morocco in America.”
