Santander (EFE) it may be requested once the measure is published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria (BOC).
The mayoress, Gema Igual, accompanied by the Councilor for Family, Álvaro Lavín, has informed, at a press conference, of the requirements to request this aid, which is part of a birth support program that will go through the Board today of Local Government and which has a budget of 190,000 euros, expandable in the event that the item does not reach all families.
At the moment, as it has advanced, the game is estimated for the birth each year of 950 children or adoptions of parents registered in Santander with at least one year of seniority, although it has insisted that if necessary it would be expanded.
And he has highlighted that it can be requested retroactively by families that have had children since the first day of this year, from its publication in the BOC, scheduled for this month.
No baby without help
“No child who is born will be left without this help,” stressed Igual, who has advanced that this game is expected to be annual and that it responds, as he has pointed out, to the drop in the birth rate in the Cantabrian capital.
In fact, he recalled that last year was the first in which births to parents registered in Santander fell below a thousand, with 927, compared to the 1,527 that were born ten years earlier. “This has to motivate and empower us to have children,” she added.
For this reason, Gema Igual has defended that the City Council wants to “reward” Santander families who have children because the city’s population is declining, with aid that will be awarded in competitive competition, despite which, it has affected, all applications that meet the requirements will be processed.
