Valencia, (EFE) finally know the impact on profitability of the campaign.
Since the beginning of March, many businesses have been receiving a high number of reservations for this week and, according to a survey by the Valencia Hospitality Federation among associated companies, 70% thought at the beginning of the month of an improvement in the figures compared to the Fallas of 2022 and in some profitable parties for their activity.
One of the singularities of this year’s Fallas is the coincidence with the Community of Madrid bridge on March 20, for which a flood of visitors is expected, especially during the weekend.
The night of March 19, the cremá de las fallas, is usually very weak for the hotel industry, but this year a fully active dinner service is expected for the celebration of San José and Father’s Day.
The hoteliers hope that the weather will accompany and not happen as in the Fallas of 2022, in which the rains caused numerous cancellations and the impossibility of working on the terraces.
The Hospitality Federation has indicated that, after three years with restrictions, this fallera week will be the first in which all events have been recovered with complete freedom, so the return to normality is expected to encourage both national and international tourism. international.
hotel optimism
The Valencian hotel association, Hosbec, expects the hotels in the city of Valencia to be close to “technically full” during the weekend with 95% occupancy thanks to the good weather, and points out the possibility of reaching 100% due to reservations last minute.
Coinciding with the hospitality sector, from Hosbec they point out that not only the occupancy data is important, but also about recovering profitability in a situation of skyrocketing costs.
“We should not be conditioned by the number of tourists but by their capacity for economic production and drag effect for other sectors,” according to the president of Hosbec, Fede Fuster.
Hosbec Valencia represents twenty-three hotels in the city, which have 5,416 hotel beds (in the province of Valencia there are 30 associated with 7,552 beds).
According to Visit Valencia, the expected occupancy this central week of Fallas (March 13-19) is 72.9%, and 86.5% on the nights of the 17th and 18th, which means exceeding the figures for the last five years. .
And since March 20 is a holiday in the Community of Madrid, an occupancy rate of more than 74% is expected on the night of the 19th to the 20th.
In the city of Valencia, the number of hotel beds amounts to 21,406, according to data from the Generalitat at the end of 2022.
Other activities also recover from these failures
The Valencia Hairdressing Guild ensures that the full poster is posted every day of Fallas and hairdressers have recovered their pre-pandemic activity in both women’s and men’s salons.
“At full capacity, 100% of the full agenda”, summarizes Daniel Gallego, member of the board of directors of the Hairdressing Guild.
Among the added values, the good weather stands out, the Monday holiday in Madrid, the desire for Fallas and going out after a winter in which people have been “withdrawn” due to the cold; a factor, the climate, on which the activity of the hairdressers depends to a large extent by conditioning social activities.
