It is an alternative to the lack of the museum enclosure in which until now the processional carvings were kept.
The Easter street museum: a provisional solution
The demolition of the dean of the Holy Week Museums in Spain, which was promoted in 1957, to build a new one, has led the Pro Semana Santa Board to adopt the provisional solution of the tent.
This weekend the steps will begin to move.
The secretary of the Zamora Pro Holy Week Board, Rufo Martínez, has indicated to Efe that the transfer will begin with the steps of two of the brotherhoods with the most sculptural groups, those of Jesús Nazareno and Santo Entierro.
Also those of the brotherhoods of Jesus in his triumphal entry into Jerusalem, the Silence or the brotherhood of Jesus in his third fall.
The tent, with air heating
Rufo Martínez explained that the tent, 30 meters long by 15 meters wide, will have an air heating system.
It is about preventing the carvings from being subjected to temperatures below 15 or 16 degrees Celsius to favor their conservation.
Although this street museum will bring the carvings of Holy Week closer to Zamoranos and visitors who walk through that area of the old town, Rufo Martínez points out that they do not see the installation “as an opportunity but as a necessity”.
In his opinion, they have had “no choice” but to install it in the absence of a museum.
Since October, on the occasion of the beginning of the demolition works of the Easter Museum to build a new one, the steps remain in churches, brotherhood paneras and other spaces from which they will be taken to the tent.
This provisional installation has forced six of the brotherhoods to change the itineraries of their processions.
Everything ready to start in fifteen days
With fifteen days to go until its start, Holy Week in Zamora, which has been declared of International Tourist Interest and an Asset of Cultural Interest, has everything ready for its celebration.
“The brotherhoods have all the preparations made and the entire organization polished and now the only thing left is to pray for a good day because the rest is already all organized,” declared the secretary of the Pro Semana Santa Board. EFE
