Logroño, (EFE).- The vice president and delegate of the Association of Victims of Terrorism in La Rioja (AVTR), Víctor López, has demanded this Saturday “the necessary political, legal and social instruments to eradicate terrorism forever from society ”.
López has made this request during the act in commemoration of the European Day of the Victims of Terrorism, celebrated next to the monument dedicated to them in Logroño and in which a special memory has been made of the attacks of March 11, which took place in Madrid 19 years ago.
“Surely, all of us who are here remember what we were doing that day and it is that something broke in all of us”, he said, “that March 11 we felt more vulnerable than ever as a society and many of us went out to show our condemnation and solidarity”.
It has stressed that “there is no cause whatsoever that justifies murder, extortion or threats, hence those who continue to think that, at some point, killing was justified should not be allowed as valid political agents.”

“I ask the authorities not to abandon us because the victims are not something from the past, we are from the present and we need special and prolonged attention over time,” he stressed.
“We did not choose that one day our lives would be broken – he has had an impact – and institutional and social support is a basic pillar for us”.
He has stressed that “it is also recent memory to remember the dead and to prevent the murderers from being honored, extolled and praised is an obligation of all, especially the authorities.”
This act has concluded with the placement of different bouquets of flowers at the foot of this Monument to the Victims of Terrorism by the AVTR; the general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarra from La Rioja; and the socialist councilor of Logroño Domingo Dorado.
Flowers have also been laid by the spokesperson for Ciudadanos in the Logroño Town Hall, Ignacio Tricio; the president of PR+, Rubén Antoñanzas; and the Vox candidate for the Presidency of the regional government, Ángel Alda. EFE
