Pamplona (EFE).- A “solar map” created by the Government of Navarra allows citizens and companies to know the potential of the roof of their building to produce energy if solar panels were installed.
The tool, which is accessed from the energy transition portal of the Government of Navarra, is an interactive map that shows the solar, photovoltaic and thermal energy potential of the building’s roof.
To do this, reports the Government of Navarra in a statement, the user can indicate an address and the tool will show a heat map with the power and energy that could be generated on that roof.
The presentation, which was attended by the Minister of Economic and Business Development, Mikel Irujo, was held at the facilities of the Center for Sports Studies, Research and Medicine, next to the Larrabide stadium, a place where the Department has made an installation photovoltaic in self-consumption that allows saving 19.9% annually.
Citizen energy empowerment
The presentation was also attended by the General Director of Industry, Energy and Strategic Projects S4, Uxue Itoiz; and the person in charge of the Nasuvinsa-Lursarea Territorial Observatory of Navarre, Xabier Velasco.
“This tool is a new step towards citizen energy empowerment, with the aim that Navarrese men and women can know an estimate of the power they can generate if they install solar panels”, highlighted the counselor.
Irujo has pointed out that “self-consumption is one of the pillars for the energy transition. In 2020 we had 31 Mw of installed power in Navarra and currently we already have 108 Mw, which means that we have tripled the installed power”.
The update of the Navarra 2030 Energy Plan will include an installed capacity of 1,000 MW as a target, the counselor has advanced.
A guide to installing solar panels
In addition, to promote self-consumption, the Department of Economic and Business Development has published a guide to provide a summary of the steps that must be taken to install panels on the roof. Finally, a video has been edited to explain the process that must be followed to request aid for self-consumption and storage.
In addition, the Minister Irujo has exposed in this act the campaign “It’s time to change” of the Government of Navarra, whose objective is “to encourage citizens and companies to take measures, among others, to save on energy costs and accelerate the decarbonization process.
In the campaign, which includes various aids in the field of energy efficiency, the Department of Economic Development stands out for the aid for self-consumption for a value of 24.4 million and for investments in energy efficiency by companies for a value of 15 million ( aimed at tourism SMEs, farms, and SMEs and large industrial companies).
In 2022, investments worth 942,000 euros have been made in buildings of the Government of Navarra. Specifically, actions have been carried out in 22 buildings, whose average savings is 20% and have a payback period of 1.51 years.
