Granada, (EFE).- Women victims of sexist violence increased by 15.9 percent in Andalusia in 2022, while the complaints filed rose by 14.1 percent.
According to annual data, which the Observatory against Domestic and Gender Violence has made public this Friday, sexist violence left a daily average of more than a hundred victims (104) and complaints (106).
Last year, the judicial bodies -violence against women courts and duty courts- agreed on 7,334 protection orders, practically the same as in 2021, the Superior Court of Justice of Andalusia has reported, which has referred to the “significant increase ” the number of victims of gender violence and the number of complaints filed for this type of crime.
During 2022, the Andalusian courts received a total of 38,752 complaints, 14.1% more than the previous year, in which 33,956 were registered.
There were 37,937 women victims of sexist violence, 15.9% more than in 2021, the year in which 32,745 were counted, and three out of four women victims (74.8%) were Spanish.
A rate of 72.9 in Spain
The rate of victims of gender violence per 10,000 women was 72.9 in all of Spain, almost seven points higher than in 2021.
Above the national average were the Balearic Islands, with a ratio of 110.3; Murcia, with 103.4; Valencian Community, with 95.6; Canary Islands, with 88.2; Andalusia, with 86.3 and Madrid, with 75.8.
More than seven out of ten complaints (74.9%) are filed by the victims themselves, either in court or at the police station, a figure that is still much higher than that of the complaints filed by the victim’s entourage, 1. 4 percent of the total.
Complaints derived directly from police reports represented 11.8%; those originated by reports of injuries, 8.2% and those presented by third parties, 3.6 percent.
The percentage of female victims who availed themselves of the exemption from the legal obligation to declare remained similar to that of 2021, and a total of 2,130 victims, 5.6% of the total, renounced making a statement against their aggressors; Of these, 1,482 were Spanish and 648 of other nationalities.
More than 9,500 protection orders
Regarding protection orders, in 2022 a total of 9,563 protection orders were requested in judicial bodies and, of these, 8,474 were initiated by courts for violence against women and another 1,089 by courts acting as guards.
The judicial bodies also agreed, derived from protection orders and other precautionary measures, a total of 14,376 criminal judicial measures for the protection of victims (women and minors).
In the criminal sphere, the most frequent were restraining orders (5,463), which represented 38% of the total criminal precautionary measures adopted, practically the same percentage as the prohibition of communication (5,429), 37.7 percent of the all measures. EFE
