Lima (EFE) in internal affairs” of the Andean country.
Through a supreme resolution published today in the legal regulations bulletin of the official newspaper El Peruano, the Executive formalized the term of office of diplomat Manuel Gerardo Talavera, appointed ambassador of Mexico on September 30, 2021.
The document indicates that the date of termination of their functions will be set by means of a ministerial resolution and provides for the cancellation of the credentials and the corresponding full powers.
The norm, which bears the signature of Boluarte and the chancellor, Ana Cecilia Gervasi, also thanks Talavera for her “important services rendered to the Nation” in the performance of her duties.
Tense relations between Peru and Mexico
Boluarte declared this Friday in a message to the nation that “diplomatic relations between Peru and Mexico are formally at the level of business managers,” after his willingness to definitively withdraw the Peruvian ambassador in the North American country.
“Mr. López has decided to support the coup d’état carried out by the now former president Pedro Castillo on December 7, 2022, the same one that generated the unanimous rejection of the institutions that make up the democratic order in Peru and the decision of the Congress of the Republic to vacate (remove) him from office with the vote of 101 of its 130 parliamentarians,” said Boluarte.
The president affirmed that López Obrador “has decided to seriously affect the relations of mutual respect, friendship, cooperation and desire for integration that have historically united Peru and Mexico”, and that he has privileged “ideological affinities to the detriment” of integration processes that benefited both towns.
“With his statements, Mr. López violates the principle of international law on non-interference in internal affairs, as well as those referring to the defense and promotion of democracy,” added Boluarte.
Lopez Obrador’s support for Castillo
This Friday, during his daily press conference, the Mexican president reiterated that “Mexico will continue to support the president (Castillo) unjustly and illegally dismissed and will continue to demand that he be released. He cannot be in jail, it is a great injustice ”.
López Obrador once again referred to Boluarte as a “spurious president” and insisted that behind the dismissal of Castillo there is “a lot of racism and classism” as well as “many vested interests in Peru because it is a country with many natural resources and those natural resources they are highly coveted by large transnational companies”.
