Pamplona (EFE).- The general coordinator of EH Bildu, Arnaldo Otegi, has made this Tuesday a “very positive” assessment of the external support provided to the Government of Navarra in this legislature, although “not everything that has happened has pleased us” .
Otegi, who has taken part in an act of presentation of EH Bildu candidates from Navarra and the Basque Country, has pointed out at a press conference that “we have given specific support, we have reached agreements with the Government of Navarra” for two reasons, the first that “we try to close the way to the reactionary right wing anywhere.”
Secondly, he added, because “we have considered, and I think that now it is up to the public to judge, that the support we have given is support that has improved people’s lives.”
In this sense, he has made “a very positive assessment of what has happened, with ups and downs, because obviously not everything that has happened has pleased us”, but “we consider that it has been a good decision to support this government externally” .
Do not enter into “sterile debates”
Facing the next legislature, he stressed, “we will see after the electoral results what arithmetic remains” in the Parliament of Navarra.
In any case, he said, “we will continue to bet that there are governments that protect the people and not governments that curtail the rights of the people.”
In his speech at this event, Otegi assured that EH Bildu is not running for election “to enter into sterile debates, to fight with anyone.” To the members of EH Bildu, he has stressed, “they will not find us in debates of a low intellectual level and of simplicity.”
Otegi has asserted that “this country needs a regeneration” in all areas and for this it is necessary, in his opinion, “to tell people that they can get out of monotony, hopelessness” and “boredom” and make a policy based on “solid principles” and “giving people security”.
The coordinator of EH Bildu has asserted that in the electoral campaign all parties “say what they are going to do”, but has considered that it is necessary to say “what has been done” so far so that citizens take it into account when to vote.
The head of the list of the coalition for the regional elections in Navarra, Laura Aznal, has also intervened in this act, who has declared that, in this situation of “uncertainty”, they are especially concerned about everything related to the workplace, housing, price escalation and rising interest rates.
They are also concerned, he stated, about the “deterioration” of public services, the public health situation, that there are young people who cannot become independent and that the care of the elderly is left to private companies.
Quality public services
For this reason, it has advocated for quality public services, “stronger, that respond to the needs of all people.
The Navarrese candidate has opted to “put aside the policies of the right” and move forward “hand in hand with the people” to build “a more sustainable, more feminist, more Basque, more democratic and fairer Nafarroa”.
The presentation was attended by the main candidates for the municipal and regional elections, such as Laura Aznal and Joseba Asiron (Navarra), Eva Lopez de Arroyabe and Rocio Vitero (Araba), Maddalen Iriarte and Juan Karlos Izagirre (Gipuzkoa) and Iker Casanova and Maria del Rio (Bizkaia).
