Algeciras (Cádiz)/Ceuta, (EFE).- Maritime traffic in the Strait of Gibraltar begins to recover normality with the port of Algeciras which is fully operational this Sunday, while the port of Tarifa continues to be closed since it was unleashed on Friday a storm with a strong easterly wind.
According to port sources, the links from Algeciras with Ceuta and with the Moroccan port of Tanger Med have resumed operating since this morning.
In addition, the two container terminals of the port of Algeciras have recovered operation once the wind has subsided.
Tarifa is still closed to navigation
On the other hand, unlike the port of Algeciras, the port of Tarifa remains closed to navigation, so the link with the Moroccan port of Tangier City remains suspended.
According to the State Meteorological Agency, in the area the easterly wind is blowing today at a speed of 35 kilometers per hour, although with gusts that exceed sixty.
The yellow level warning for coastal phenomena remains active at least until next midnight.
On the other hand, the shipping companies that operate on the maritime route of the Strait of Gibraltar between the ports of Ceuta and Algeciras (Cádiz) are recovering normal travel, although cancellations are still being registered due to the easterly storm.
Port sources have informed EFE that on this Sunday the ships “Passió per Formentera”, of the Balearia shipping company, and the high-speed ship “Ciudad de Ceuta”, of the Armas Trasmediterránea shipping company, are operating normally.
The decrease in the force of the wind, which has gone from more than 80 kilometers per hour to the current more than 40 kilometers, has allowed the gradual resumption of services. EFE
