Logroño, (EFE).- The Logroño City Council has asked the Social Security Treasury to transfer the plot attached to the School of Nursing, where the old San Millán Hospital was located, to create a “compensation” parking lot. .
The mayor of Logroño, Pablo Hermoso de Mendoza, explained this Tuesday that in recent days Social Security has modified the regulations by which this type of land could only be dedicated to sanitary use and, as soon as that step has been taken, The Consistory has requested the transfer of the land, divided into two parcels, with a total of 11,000 square meters.
It is, he has detailed, two pieces of land located next to Autonomía de La Rioja and Duquesa de la Victoria streets, which on occasions have already been set up as parking lots.
Once the transfer to the City Council is approved, the Consistory will decide whether to enable the plots as parking -with lighting, signage and other elements-, which could delay the availability of these spaces for a while; or choose to give them entry, without further ado, as has been done on occasions, which would make it easier for them to be made available to citizens.
The mayor recalled that the remodeling of Duquesa de la Victoria street, which is in the bidding process, will restrict the number of parking spaces on the road, so this parking lot would “compensate” for this situation with around 80 spaces parking in the area closest to Duquesa de la Victoria.
Hermoso de Mendoza has made these statements next to a parking lot on Marqués de Larios street, where the City Council has put up for sale 107 underground parking spaces at a starting price of 11,800 euros.
“This sale is having a lot of acceptance”, assured the mayor, who has stressed that “in this area of expansion of the city there is a lot of demand” and for this reason, in spring they are going to put up for sale another 150 places in the same zone.EFE
