Barcelona (EFE) in the name of their religion or beliefs, although “there are other towns that have some citizens who do.”
“Islamic terrorism is a problem for the whole of European society and we must act unitedly and knowing that there is a latent problem,” Feijóo said in a discussion at the Círculo Ecuestre in Barcelona.
«There are people who kill in the name of a god or in the name of a religion. And yet, for many centuries, you will not see a Catholic or a Christian kill in the name of their religion or their beliefs. And there are other towns that have some citizens who do, “said the leader of the PP.
Yesterday, a 25-year-old young man assassinated the sacristan of a church in Algeciras and injured four other people, including a priest, in what could be the first jihadist attack in Spain after those in Barcelona and Cambrils in 2017.
Feijóo urges to convene the anti-jihadist pact after the attack in Algeciras
Feijóo has demanded from the Government the call for the anti-terrorist pact after the attack with a knife in a church in Algeciras (Cádiz) in which the sacristan Diego Valencia died, as well as having “more information” and “minimum contact” before a “fact relevant” such as the one that occurred in Algeciras.
The Algeciras attack, Feijóo said, must be treated “with a lot of State vision” and he has demanded that there be no “hot reactions”, because they represent “the opposite of premeditated reflection.”
The PP has asked the Government to convene the anti-jihadist pact, which has not been held in all the time that Pedro Sánchez has been in Moncloa, considering it urgent that it meet after the attack in Algeciras (Cádiz) without forgetting, sources from the match, that Spain continues on alert level 4.
The spokesperson for the popular group in Congress, Cuca Gamarra, has raised the meeting of the anti-jihadist pact at a press conference at the Genoa headquarters, where she has complained that the Government, neither through parliamentary nor through other channels, has transferred to the opposition leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, all the information they have about this event.
The attack, perpetrated by a young Moroccan against two churches and which caused the death of a sacristan and injured four people, including a priest, could be the first attack of these characteristics after those in Barcelona and Cambrils in 2017, as a result of of which the anti-jihadist pact met.
Interior informs the PP of the details of the attack
The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, has called the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno Bonilla, to provide him with information on the attack on Wednesday in Algeciras, while the Secretary of State for Security, Rafael Pérez, has reported on this matter to the parliamentary spokesperson of the PP, Cuca Gamarra.
This has been stated to EFE by Interior sources, who have indicated that Marlaska has called Moreno Bonilla at around 2:30 p.m. and as soon as he landed in Spain from Stockholm, where he traveled to attend the meeting of ministers of the Union branch European.
The head of the Interior has waited to collect sufficient data to inform the representatives of the PP, since the priority -the sources have specified- has been, as in other cases, the operational aspect, that is, neutralizing the threat and guaranteeing the security.
After that, Marlaska wanted to collect the data that is closest to the reality of the facts in order to be able to transfer them to the main opposition party and the Andalusian president.
