Madrid (EFE).- “When you kill someone on the road, you kill them every day of your life” is the slogan of the traditional awareness campaign of the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT), which this summer focuses on the alcohol and the consequences that people who cause a fatal accident live with.
Through three characters, the campaign, which starts this Wednesday, shows how risky behavior can make your life stop being yours and the underlying feeling of guilt haunts you every day after the accident of traffic.
The presence of alcohol among drivers involved in fatal traffic accidents has increased, which is why the DGT has focused its presence on this legal drug and its incompatibility behind the wheel.
Increase in drivers with the presence of alcohol
In the last year, the number of drivers with the presence of alcohol in the body in fatal accidents has increased by 4 percentage points compared to 2019 (before the pandemic), going from 25% to 29%.
When road accidents took place at night and on weekends, that figure increased by 7 percentage points over those registered in 2019.
The three chosen characters, Cristina, Martín and David, maintain a brief dialogue years later with the person they killed on the road (Lolo, Juan and Carlos), in which they show emotional anguish, guilt, self-reproach, anxiety, post-traumatic stress that involves having taken the life of a person in a traffic accident.
The campaign can be seen and heard from this Wednesday until September 7 on television, radio, print media, digital media, social networks, cinemas, and through the website https://todoslosdiasdetuvida.dgt.es.
