Los Angeles (USA) (EFE).- The films “The Fabelmans”, by Steven Spielberg, and “Everything Everywhere All at Once”, by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, will compete for the Oscar for best film in the 95th edition of these awards, the Hollywood Academy announced Tuesday.
To both titles are added, among others, “The Banshees of Inisherin”, by Martin McDonagh; “Elvis” by Baz Luhrmann; “All Quiet on the Western Front”, by Edward Berger, and the two blockbuster productions of 2022, “Top Gun: Maverick”, by Joseph Kosinski, and “Avatar: The Way of Water”, by James Cameron.
It was also announced that Steven Spielberg will nominate for the ninth time for the Best Director Oscar after being nominated for his latest film, “The Fabelmans”, at the 95th Academy Awards in Hollywood.
Spielberg will fight for the statuette with directors Martin McDonagh (“The Banshees of Inisherin”), Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”), Todd Field (“Tár”) and Ruben Östlund (“Triangle of Sadness” ).
Latino representation
The film “Argentina, 1985”, directed by Santiago Mitre, will seek the Oscar in the category of best international film.
Miter’s film will compete with the productions “All Quiet on the Western Front” (Germany), “Close” (Belgium), “The Quiet Girl” (Ireland) and “EO” (Poland).
Meanwhile, Mexican director Guillermo del Toro’s version of “Pinocchio” received an Oscar nomination for best animated film.
Los filmes «Turning Red», de Domee Shi; “Puss In Boots: The Last Wish”, de Joel Crawford; “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On”, de Dean Fleischer Camp, y “The sea Beast”, de Chris Williams, completan esta categoría.
In his first nomination in this category, del Toro reinvents Carlo Collodi’s classic tale of the wooden puppet that turns into a boy.
With the stop motion animated film, the Mexican director explores universal themes such as life, death, rebellion and the complex relationship with his father.
