Lima, (EFE).- Since the early hours of this Thursday morning, anti-government protesters have been concentrating in various parts of Lima, facing the march called at 4:00 p.m. »and who seeks to take to the heart of Peru his demand for the resignation of President Dina Boluarte.
The center of the Peruvian capital is progressively filling with hundreds of protesters who will participate in the great march called by social, union and regional organizations.
In the vicinity of the Superior Court of Justice, the Paseo de los Héroes Navales, Manco Cápac and Alfonso Ugarte avenues, they had groups of protesters in the morning who, according to the spread route, will meet at Plaza Dos Mayo to begin the march.
In addition, protesters camped for two days on the San Marcos University campus, coming from various regions of the country, left escorted by the Police to the center of the city.
The protests demand the resignation of Boluarte, the closure of the Legislative, the calling of a constituent assembly and new elections, and also remember those killed in clashes with law enforcement in different parts of the country.
The manager of Citizen Security of Lima, Abdul Miranda, told the RPP radio station that up to now the mobilizations in the capital have been carried out peacefully.

The Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion, Alfonso Adrianzén, asked employers this Wednesday to facilitate teleworking before the march, since according to his words, they do not know “whether or not acts that could spill over into acts of violence will continue.”
Local media have reported the suspension of ticket sales at bus stations in the city and the closure of some businesses and bank offices.
Warning from protest leaders
This Wednesday, several leaders of the demonstrations affirmed in a press conference that there will be no “democracy or peace” in their country, if Boluarte does not resign as head of state.
The general secretary of the General Confederation of Workers of Peru (CGTP), Gerónimo López, added that, even if Boluarte resigns from office, the demonstrations will continue if there is not also a change in the board of directors of Congress, chaired by the conservative José Williams. Shoe.
Boluarte does not have vice presidents, so his resignation would imply that the president of Congress assumes the head of state by constitutional succession.
During the press conference, held at the CGTP headquarters, the leaders insisted that this Thursday there will be “a national civic-popular strike with peaceful mobilizations.”

Since the protests began at the beginning of December, and with a new death confirmed this Thursday, 54 people have died in clashes with law enforcement and in events related to the strikes.
Attempted assault on the Arequipa airport
Hundreds of protesters tried this Thursday to enter the Arequipa airport facilities, the second most populous city in Peru, whose operations were suspended this morning as a preventive measure in the face of anti-government protests that add up to more than 50 deaths.
The protesters tried to break into the Alfredo Rodríguez Ballón Airport, breaking the metal fences around the air terminal’s perimeter, to which the police officers responded by firing tear gas canisters.
Hours before, the Ministry of Transport and Communications reported the closure of the airport “in safeguarding the integrity of citizens and the safety of aeronautical operations.”
