València (EFE).- The Generalitat and the distribution sector are finalizing the implementation of a “consumption bonus” in the Valencian Community, which will go to families with fewer resources and more difficulties in the shopping basket, but not It will not be stigmatizing nor will it be universal.
This has been advanced by the President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, at the Breakfasts of the EFE Agency at the Valencia Bar Association, where he has indicated that they continue to work with supermarkets and the distribution sector as a whole, and believes that early next week they will be able to present the agreement.
Serve families with fewer resources
“The idea is clear,” stated Puig, who specified that the parameters on which this concerted action is based are “attending to those families with fewer resources”, having a contribution from the private sector, and using “a methodology that as easy as possible.”
The “consumer voucher” will not be, therefore, a universalized action for everyone, since the Generalitat does not have “sufficient economic capacity or regulations”, but it will not be “stigmatizing” for the beneficiaries either, and it will also take competition into account.
Puig has defended that his government has been trying for months to find “an anchor to help families with more difficulties to address the situation of the shopping basket”, a problem that, like inflation, is affecting more low and medium incomes .
alleviate the cost of life
“We are trying to suture that wound,” he stated, before recalling that since the start of the war in Ukraine and the rapid rise in prices, the Consell has made decisions to alleviate the high cost of living.
Among them, he has highlighted the free transport for those under 30 years of age and the 50% price subsidy for all citizens; the reduction of 10% of all the rates of the Generalitat or the tax reform that affects low and medium incomes.
Now, he said, “with the work that we are developing with the representatives of the supermarkets and the distribution as a whole, what we want is to reach an agreement” to help families with more difficulties to face the increase in the price of the basket of the purchase.
