Geneva (EFE).- The drought that Somalia is currently suffering, with several ruined harvest seasons, could have caused up to 43,000 deaths in the country last year, half of them children under five years of age, reveals a study presented today by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The study, prepared from the calculation of additional deaths registered last year compared to previous years, also warns that between 18,100 and 34,200 people could die in the first half of this year due to the crisis.
The figures are higher than those registered in the previous drought experienced by the country of the Horn of Africa, in the years 2017 and 2018.
