Logroño, (EFE).- The March 8 Platform has appealed this Monday for unity in the demonstration next Wednesday, International Women’s Day, in which it will tour the streets of Logroño to defend that “equal rights guarantee democracy and freedom”.
Representatives of this group, formed in La Rioja by PSOE, IU, CCOO, UGT, USO and Mujeres Riojanas Progresistas, have reported in an informative conference on the march scheduled for March 8, which will start from the Doctor Zubía roundabout and will tour the main streets of the center of the capital of La Rioja.
The president of Mujeres Riojanas Progresistas, Izaskun Fernández, has warned of the loss of rights won by women in other territories, such as Iran, where 50 years ago they were an example and benchmark of modernity for many European countries.
From the March 8 Platform they also want to remember the difficult situation that women live in Ukraine, Palestine, Yemen or the Sahel and join the demands of the Sahrawis, Peruvians, Afghans, Syrians and Turks.
In a joint manifesto, Fernández recalled that, “thanks to progressive governments, unprecedented measures have been and are being taken in this country in terms of equality.” EFE
