Ceuta/Vitoria (EFE).- A Gipuzkoan swimmer has become the oldest woman to swim across the Strait of Gibraltar.
The woman has linked her two shores at the age of 77.
As reported to EFE by the Association of Swimming Crossing the Strait of Gibraltar (ACNEG), which officially approves the records, the challenge was carried out on Tuesday afternoon.
The swimmer is María del Rosario Tomasena Alzuni, who jumped into the water with neoprene to protect herself from the low temperature of the sea.
The swimmer left Tarifa (Cádiz) at 11:13 a.m.

He swam for 6 hours and 23 minutes before making landfall on the Moroccan coast after swimming 16.1 kilometers.
The ACNEG has expressed its “total admiration and respect” for the swimmer who has crossed the Strait, “who has shown that it is never too late to achieve a dream.” EFE
