Logroño, (EFE).- The 44-year-old man arrested last Saturday as the alleged perpetrator of the murder of his 34-year-old wife in Logroño, both Syrian refugees, has spent this afternoon at the disposal of the Violence against Women Court of La Rioja.
The detainee was in the cells of the Superior Police Headquarters of La Rioja and has been transferred this Tuesday to this Court, where he will appear before the judge, where he can give a statement or refuse to do so.
After that, the judge will determine the personal situation of the detainee, with the initial forecast that he enters prison.
The event occurred last Saturday, when, after the crime, everything indicates that this man went to a municipal library near his home, where the three minor children they had in common were.
Later, according to the first data from the investigation, the father took the three children to the vicinity of the Ebro, in the area of the fourth bridge in Logroño, where he jumped into the river without knowing how to swim.
Presumably, he could have also tried to drown the minors, who also cannot swim, although one of them escaped and called for help.
This family arrived in La Rioja in 2016, coming from the refugee camps in Lebanon, after having left their country, Syria, and there are no previous complaints of gender violence.
The three minors are under the guardianship of the social services of the Autonomous Community of La Rioja and it is pending that two maternal uncles move to Logroño in the next few hours with the intention of taking care of the children and moving them with them to Germany, where they reside.
