Valverde (El Hierro) (EFE).- The candidate for president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, announced this Friday that, after his inauguration, one of the first measures he will adopt will be the abolition of the Special Fuel Tax on the Green Islands.
This decision, Clavijo added after meeting with the president of the El Hierro Council, Javier Armas, with representatives of Disa, will allow a reduction of between 22 and 26 cents per liter of fuel on the islands of El Hierro, La Gomera and La Palm.
The measure responds to the government agreement signed with the Agrupación Herreña Independiente (AHI) and includes that the Cabildo will subsidize the differential derived from DISA logistics on the island, to increase the per liter of fuel.
In addition to Armas and Clavijo, the CEO of Disa Retail, Bernabé Rodríguez, and the general director of the Disa Service Station Network, Francisco Peláez, participated in the meeting.
The insular president has reported the commitment made by his government team to subsidize from the Cabildo de El Hierro, the logistical extra costs of transporting fuel to the island, compensation to the company that manages the three existing fuel stations on El Hierro.
This compensation, added to the suppression of the fuel tax, would have an impart of 40 cents less per liter, which would equalize the costs of the rest of the islands, even on “some occasions” being below other gas stations in the Canary Islands. Arms said.
The candidate for president of the Canary Islands has announced that the next regional government “will work from minute one on measures to promote and respond to the needs of the citizens of El Hierro, La Palma and La Gomera”, such as the suppression of the Special Fuel Tax that will mean direct savings per liter of fuel and from which both the citizens and the economic fabric of these three islands will be able to benefit.
For his part, the CEO of DISA retail has celebrated the will of the next Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo de El Hierro, to seek a viable solution to lower the price of fuel on these islands, and showed DISA’s commitment to work hand in hand with both institutions for the benefit of consumers.
