Accompanied by the first lady of Colombia, Verónica Alcocer, Doña Letizia has toured the building located in the historic center of the Caribbean city, where 150 students learn cooking, gardening, welding, electricity, carpentry, painting and masonry.
Considered the gateway for Spanish cooperation in Colombia 30 years ago, this project was assumed by the local government a decade ago due to the good results achieved and today it has 17 workshop schools throughout the country.
“It represents a tool to give a job opportunity to many young people so that they do not commit crimes. Many young people have been rescued from the streets,” said Caralos Marulanda, a former apprentice and now a teacher at the school.
The queen and Alcocer toured the different trade modules to inquire about their activity accompanied by the Spanish Secretary of State for International Cooperation, Pilar Cancela.
