Madrid (EFE).- Employment increased again in May with 200,411 more affiliates to Social Security in average terms, which raises the total employed above 20.8 million for the first time, while unemployment fell by 49,260 people to 2.7 million, the lowest figure since 2008.
According to the data provided this Friday by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations, the increase in employment, slightly lower than that of May last year, left the total number of employed at a maximum of 20,815,399, 582,676 more than a year ago. .
By activities, the hotel industry, with 67,315 more affiliates, and administrative activities and auxiliary services, with 20,930 new employees, were the ones that registered the greatest progress. As for the self-employed, they totaled 9,522 in the month.
