Barcelona, (EFE) two other trains, which added another 2,000 passengers, the French company has reported in a statement.
The company points out that the OUIGO 06501 train, leaving Atocha at 10 in the morning for Barcelona and with 1,015 passengers on board, left Madrid an hour late due to problems closing a door.
The train has been parked for more than two hours at the Zaragoza station due to the same incident, from where two convoys have finally transferred the passengers to Barcelona, according to the company.
According to eyewitnesses, thirteen of the passengers who were waiting in Zaragoza for the repair of the train got on another Renfe company that was traveling to Barcelona without a ticket.
The breakdown of this train has led to the cancellation of the Ouigo 06740 convoy, with scheduled departure at 1:40 p.m. from Barcelona and estimated arrival in Atocha at 4:20 p.m., with 970 passengers and, in turn, the return journey , the trip numbered 06571, departing at 5:20 p.m. from Madrid and arriving in the Catalan capital at 7:50 p.m., with 973 other travelers.
Ouigo states in the statement that, “in compliance with its compensation policy, the affected travelers will receive” the corresponding compensation, which will be the full amount in the case of the train that has arrived late and 200% of the cost of the ticket in the case of travelers whose trains have been suspended.
