Madrid (EFE) head of Ángel, the under 11-year-old disappeared with his cousin Fernando on December 10.
The search operation, in which members of the Judicial Police, the Scientific Police of Madrid, the Technical Interventions Operational Group (GOIT) and canine guides have participated, has tracked thousands of tons of waste for a month in a terrain similar to the extension of a soccer field, where the garbage collected in the days close to the disappearance of the minors had been dumped.
However, the definitive stoppage of the works in the Ecopark of the Castilian-La Mancha capital will depend on the decision issued by the Investigating Court number 3 of Toledo, sources of the investigation have informed EFE.
The findings of the minor’s remains occurred on three different days of the tracking work, the first on the 11th, when Ángel’s foot was found, which certified his death. Since that day the search has been limited to that point until finding other parts of his body in more detailed work.
The minor’s remains discovered in the landfill, after checking the DNA and definitively confirming that they belong to Ángel, will be subject to an autopsy at the Toledo Institute of Legal Medicine. Despite their late discovery and the state in which they were found, they are expected to shed light on the circumstances of his death.
No evidence of crime
The search work in the Ecopark of Toledo started on December 27 after the 15th, five days after the disappearance of the cousins, some workers discovered the body of Fernando, 17 years old, on the waste transport belt .
The preliminary report of the autopsy carried out on the minor’s body revealed that he did not show signs of violence and that the cause of death was non-mechanical or manual asphyxiation, so no evidence of criminality was found.
However, the investigators continue to consider various hypotheses, from an accidental death of the cousins while taking refuge on the night of the disappearance in a Toledo garbage container -discarded by their families from the beginning- to a possible double homicide.
a voluntary march
Ángel and Fernando disappeared on the afternoon of December 10, when they told the father of the eldest that they were going to buy some sandwiches at the Hiper Usera on General Ricardos street in the Madrid neighborhood of Carabanchel but they never returned.
Their disappearance was voluntary since the security cameras captured them in several Metro and bus stations in Madrid, until that same afternoon they arrived in Toledo, where they were recorded in a hotel and in other parts of the city.
According to police inquiries, Fernando went to the Toledo capital with his little cousin to meet a girl with whom he had had a romantic relationship that had broken off last summer.
The families of the minors have maintained their suspicions about the relatives of that young woman, who have been questioned by the investigators. EFE
