Palencia (EFE) Meyers, La Casa Azul or Sidonie, and emerging groups such as Veintiuno, La Plazuela or Niña Polaca.
With a month to go before the independent pop-rock event fills the city with music between June 8 and 11, the organization has already confirmed, through the sale of season tickets and tickets, the attendance record, which It will exceed 15,000 people in 2022 from 46 provinces.
This was confirmed by the festival organizers David Frechilla and Juan Cruz Pascual during the presentation of the 20th Anniversary edition, held this Tuesday at the Palencia City Hall with the support of all administrations.
Palencia Sonora, cozy format and good treatment
“It is going to be a more than satisfactory edition because we have already managed to have the same public as last year and we still have a month left”, Pascual stated.
He has pointed out that, nevertheless, Palencia Sonora will continue to be a comfortable and welcoming small-medium-format festival, which stands out for its good treatment of the public and artists.
“You can grow more, but it is not convenient because we would lose that essence,” added Frechilla, for whom Palencia Sonora, in addition to being a festival makes a city and has become an emblem of Palencia, is known on the national scene and has transcended the musical itself to become “a flag of Palencia”.
That is the line in which the organization that wants “people to jump dancing at concerts, but also to walk through Palencia” intends to follow.
Patience as a hallmark
Another of the hallmarks of Palencia Sonora is its presence in the city with activities throughout the year and the preparation of a poster “with its own personality” that takes care of both headliners such as Sidonie or Lori Meyers as well as emerging groups such as Veintiuno, La Plazuela or Niña Polaca, who will be there this year.
In total there will be 34 bands and artists that make up an eclectic and plural line-up that accommodates various musical styles and aesthetics and that, in addition to Lori Meyers and Sidonie, are headed by well-known groups such as La Casa Azul, Ginebras, Iseo & Dodosound, La La Love You, Carlangas or Ángel Stanich.
There will also be performances by Baiuca, Veintiuno, La Plazuela, Niña Polaca, El Naán, Queralt Lahoz, Los Ganglios, Çantamarta, Anabel Lee, Morreo, Margarita Quebrada, Rayo, Jaguayano, Mamita Papaya, Coco Wine and Brava and the Dj’s Yahaira, Arkademode, Brian de Calma, Ópera Primas, Say Yes Dj, Yammay, Champú Girls and Pierre May, as well as Chacho Cósmico and the Beebrass Ensemble Band, a cast that will celebrate the two decades of life of the festival.
Another of the singularities of Palencia Sonora is that the festival model allows the public to enjoy all the concerts, the largest and the emerging ones, since the performances do not overlap, and do so in different corners of the city that add up to the main stage in Parque del Sotillo.
national benchmark
All this has made this festival in 20 years “a national benchmark among small and medium format festivals” with a lineup that includes the best independent pop-rock music artists and gives special prominence to emerging groups, which It has achieved an image of a modern, quality festival that stands out for its good treatment and that contributes to the economic reactivation of the hotel industry in the capital and province.
