Valladolid (EFE).- The leader of the PSOE of Castilla y León, Luis Tudanca, has assured that the list of candidates of the PP for the mayors of the province capitals of the Community, its difficulty to “force” them and the proliferation of lists Vox locals indicate that “the once almighty PP of Castilla y León has dissolved like a sugar cube.”
Question- How is the PSOE going to measure who wins the 28M in Castilla y León?
Answer- I’m not worried about the next day’s headline. I really think about how many citizens of Castilla y León will be able to stand against the right and the extreme right. We start from the best municipal result in history, and we aspire not only to maintain it but to exceed it. That says a lot about the strength of the PSOE, but also about the weakness of the right in one of its traditional strongholds.

Q- And what do you anticipate?
R- We have mayors with clear leadership and facing a very divided right, more than ever, which has also shown that it is incapable of responding and giving citizens stability at a complex time. The harsh reality is that the once all-powerful PP of Castilla y León has dissolved a little sugar, that they have no candidates. They have had to force… Mr. Carnero himself in Valladolid, in León, to the amount of Burgos, which is almost a paratrooper.
So much so that they do not want to talk about municipal politics or municipal elections. I am very amused by what Mañueco says that all the candidates are called Pedro Sánchez, in reality it seems that all the PP candidates in Castilla y León are called Alfonso. I very much doubt that it will come in handy (that he campaign) given the management and alliances he has.
Q- How would you convince a Cs voter in 2019 that they should vote for the PSOE now?
R- The vote belongs to no one, people know very well what they vote in each of the processes. They themselves (Cs) said that they rest in peace, after agreeing in all places with the PP and even with the extreme right. Their votes proved useless for change, for regeneration and for progress. Those who offer stability, governments capable of dialogue, strong, without breaking agreements or calling for early elections on Twitter are the socialist governments.
sanitary cord
Q- Do you see it feasible to resume after 28M the proposal to the PP of the ‘sanitary cordon’ towards Vox?
I don’t see it as possible because the PP doesn’t want to, never did. The PP does not want the list with the most votes to govern, it wants the PP to always govern. If it is the list with the most votes because it is and if not agreeing with whoever is necessary, even with the extreme right, unlike what the civilized right does in Europe.
They have no complex, Mr. Mañueco and the PP are extremely comfortable governing with Vox and they will govern with Vox in all the places where they can, whatever result they get. In fact, when Mr. Feijóo said that again (most voted list) he was left alone, hanging from the flag. The PP knows that it is practically impossible for them to be the first force in most of the town halls of this Community and of Spain.
Q- Not even a minimum way of agreement?, due to the particularity of the city councils when it comes to governing alone.
R- But it was very feasible at the regional level… if I said that I was willing to facilitate a government of Mr. Mañueco if the PP in all of Spain committed to a sanitary cordon for Vox. They did not want to take that route. The PP will govern with Vox everywhere it can. They are trying to fool people again. What the PP strategy involves breaking with Vox in Castilla y León after the municipal elections is a lie.
Mr. Feijóo after the municipal and regional elections will be in the same weak situation that Pablo Casado was in. His worst rival is not Pedro Sánchez, it is Ayuso.
Q- What is Luis Tudanca at stake in those 2023 elections? Will he be a candidate in a socialist primary again?
R- I have never believed that I had anything at stake in personal terms and I still do not have that feeling, I arrived because I wanted to and I will leave because I feel like it, when I think that I really can’t give Castilla y León any more.
About the primaries, when we get to that bridge we will cross that river. No, it’s not time, because it’s time to talk about municipal candidates, but I’m still here, standing. We are going to continue to face the worst government that Castilla y León has ever had in its history, and I am going to continue to face Mr. Mañueco and Mr. García-Gallardo with all my might until they are gone.
The PP-Vox pact
Q- Who do you see as more likely to break the pact? To the PP or to Vox?
R- Of course, the strategy that led him to break with Ciudadanos on Twitter did not work out very well, very well… that was to get a majority and we were left with 16,000 votes in Castilla y León. But if someone breaks it is the one with the Twitter button and is the one who has shown that they have no say in anything. But I think it has no incentive. I think the problem he would have is that there are serious doubts about being changed by the PP, I don’t know if they would let him (introduce himself) now. In fact, it is still the plague in Spain.
Q- Do you think that any possible regional pact between the PP and Vox would take away the national focus from what is happening in Castilla y León?
R- The national focus is something that is very important. Here the strategy of the PP was always that nothing happen, that nothing be known, that there was no noise, that nobody knew what was happening… It has already been changed, this legislature is not, also the previous one, and that in a Community where The PP has used everyone’s money for media control without dueling, since it has had a lot of influence, such as with television.
But the PP has very little to scratch, very little or nothing, (in the autonomous regions of other territories), and that can continue to make us feel ashamed of being the only ones with an extreme right-wing government. Yes, there are going to be many town councils in Spain and that will eliminate any possibility for Mr. Feijóo of posing as a moderate before the next general elections. EFE
