Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (EFE).- The Canary Islands Medical Union (SMC) has announced this Friday that it postpones without a date its call for a strike by doctors in the Canary Islands Health System (SCS) until a commitment is reached by the Counseling that guarantees the improvement of their salaries and primary care.
The general secretary of the SMC, Levy Cabrera, has informed the journalists, after the meeting of the Health Sector Board, that progress has been made on their claims but it is not enough to call off the strike, which had already been postponed until the 10th and which they have now left undated.
The pending issues and those that refer to the increase in incentives, the remuneration of on-call hours and the professional career, as well as the reinforcement measures in primary care, will be addressed in a new meeting that will be held next week with the director of the SCS, Elizabeth Hernández, in which, if they achieve those guarantees they are pursuing, they could determine the cancellation of the strike, Cabrera has told EFE.
The creation of this working group to study improvements in incentives and remuneration for on-call hours and professional career was an essential condition for withdrawing the strike call by the Medical Union. EFE
