kyiv (EFE) .- The Russian forces continue to launch attacks on the Ukrainian towns on the eastern front of Avdíivka, Mariinka and Bakhmut and continue to bombard towns near the southern front line.
One of the most serious bombardments has been registered in the city of Kupyansk, in the northeastern province of Kharkiv, where a municipal museum has been destroyed, in an attack in which an employee died and ten other people were injured.
This has been confirmed by the President of Ukraine himself, Volodímir Zelenski, who has denounced in his Telegram account that “the terrorist State is doing everything possible to completely destroy us. Our history, our culture, our people. Kill Ukrainians with absolutely savage methods.”
The head of state reported the death of “a museum employee” and “ten injured”, although the number of victims could grow. “There are still people under the rubble,” explained Zelenski, who also said that the rescue efforts continue and vowed not to leave the attack unanswered.
According to the military administration of the Kharkiv province, the attack was carried out with an S-300 missile.
Russia fires nearly 400 artillery shells
For its part, the Ukrainian General Staff has indicated that “units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 43 enemy attacks on Monday.”
The part adds that Russia remains “on the defensive” in the territories it occupies in the southern Ukrainian provinces of Zaporiyia and Jerson, where, however, it continues to launch attacks against “inhabited areas” located along the front line in that part of Ukraine.
At least three civilians died in those offensives, two in Shakhtar, in Donetsk (eastern Ukraine) and another – a 60-year-old woman. in the northeastern province of Kharkiv.
In Kherson, the Ukrainian military authorities have counted sixty Russian attacks against the part controlled by kyiv, on which the occupying forces launched 386 heavy artillery shells in addition to attacking it with drones and planes.
More than 120 Ukrainian civilians killed by mines
Daily attacks and shelling are not the only concern of the Ukrainian population
A total of 124 Ukrainian civilians, including six children, have been killed since the start of the large-scale Russian invasion as a result of the explosion of mines and other explosives left on Ukrainian soil.
A spokesperson for the Kiev Ministry of Defense quoted today by local media has assured that in addition, 286 people, including 33 minors, have been injured as a result of the explosion of these explosive devices used by armies in combat to hinder the advances of the opponent.
It is estimated that a total of 174,000 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory, almost a third of the country’s total area, is contaminated by anti-personnel or anti-tank mines or other explosive devices.
Ukraine is working with its international partners to train specialists capable of demining the territory, a task that could take decades to complete.
