Moscow, (EFE).- Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to make a trip to China next October, confirmed this Tuesday the adviser for International Affairs of the Russian Presidency, Yuri Ushakov.
“It is known that we have received an invitation and we plan to travel to China in October,” Ushakov was quoted as saying by the TASS agency.
He specified that the visit will take place during the celebration of the Forum “The Strip and the Silk Road”.
On the other hand, Ushakov did not rule out Putin’s visit to the G20 summit, scheduled for September 9 and 10 in New Delhi.
These statements come after Russia confirmed that Putin would not travel to the BRICS summit in South Africa due to the controversy caused by the international arrest warrant against him.
At the same time, the Russian president plans to participate in the event by videoconference.
Previously, Putin’s spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, indicated that the Kremlin chief would travel to China in the coming months.
The Kremlin press secretary specified that the agenda of Putin’s visit to the Asian neighbor includes the discussion of issues that are already clear and that “are quite voluminous”, such as bilateral trade, economic cooperation and the world and regional situation.
In February 2022, shortly before the start of the Russian military intervention in Ukraine, Putin and Xi proclaimed “unlimited friendship” between their nations in Beijing.
In March this year, during Xi’s visit to Russia, the Chinese leader tried to convince Putin of his 12-point peace initiative and, according to the Financial Times, warned his Russian counterpart against using nuclear weapons.
