“We do not put a price or red lines in public and we will try to avoid an electoral repetition,” he assured in an interview on Radio Euskadi.
Otegi has also stated that “it does not depend only on EH Bildu” and its six elected deputies to prevent the government of the “reactionary bloc” of PP and Vox, and has referred to Junts, whose seven votes would be decisive for Sánchez to be sworn in as president.
“Out of respect for the decision adopted in Junts, my reflection is that in Catalonia, as in the Basque Country, a massive vote has been taken to prevent the victory of the reactionary bloc and I consider that the priority of both peoples is that,” he argued.
He has called for an “exercise of responsibility” from the Junts itself, but also from the PSOE which, in his opinion, “has to be aware that it will have to speak normally about certain issues, in reference to plurinationality and self-determination.
His advice for both parties, as he has specified, is to “debate little in public and much in private.”
Regarding the request of the Prosecutor’s Office to order the search and capture and imprisonment of the former president of the Generalitat and Junts leader, Carles Puigdemont, just the day after the electoral results were known, Otegi has opined that “it seems evident” that it is an “attempt to hinder” a possible rapprochement between PSOE and Junts.
“In Spain there is no judicial independence,” he considered.
