Valladolid, Jul (EFE).- Teté Delgado will step on the stage of the Corrala del Caballero for the first time this Tuesday, in Olmedo Clásico, to interpret a “Venus” in which she assumes the pride of the goddess and which has allowed her to meet the verse, through a fresh and fun version of “El amor enamorado”, by Lope de Vega.
In an interview with EFE, she has acknowledged that she was surprised that the director of the play, Borja Rodríguez, thought of her to get into the character of “Venus”, but he convinced her with a phrase: “We are going to have fun marveling”, and that is what he has tried to do since it premiered in June 2022.
A fresher and funnier Venus
As he has warned, “Venus has always been represented as a languid, demure goddess, which is very far from what she is” and for this reason he wanted to give her a “forcefulness, an intensity” that, although it began with “fear”, has now remained “respectful”, after several performances, in which critics have praised the work of the artistic and technical team.
“For me it is a pride to be able to work in another registry. And it is a luxury to see how the public that is not used to verse enters the work immediately, and laughs with a classic, which is always more difficult, and participates in everything that happens on stage”, he specified.
And since they have also been part of the programming of various festivals, he knows that viewers, who can be more demanding as they have a greater knowledge of the classics, have also responded very well to this version of Fernando Sansegundo, in which gods, men and nymphs coexist, who love and fight equally.
Authority in question
It is a work in which authority is questioned by the people, blind obedience, which defends the union to defend itself against a common enemy -the python-, in which there is love, jealousy, revenge, anger, but with humor as the protagonist.
Likewise, the myth of Daphne and Phoebus is addressed, from a current perspective, since the persecution of one towards the other “is a serious harassment”, as Phoebo does not accept no for an answer and maintains his pressure on Daphne to get her love, at any cost.
And although the gods in this work, Venus and Cupid, especially, did not ask for forgiveness, at least they did accept their defeats “something that politicians do not do,” said Delgado, who acknowledges that he breathes a little calmer after the results of the last general elections.
“We will have to see what happens, but what is clear is that the left has mobilized and what was expected has not occurred. We were risking a lot, going back in time and losing everything we had conquered, and it seems that people have reacted to that ”, she commented.
Fundamental education
He considers that education is a fundamental pillar to acquire principles and values, to know how to respect others, and to put aside those constant judgments that we suffer and in which we also participate, although in his case “after 33 years in show business, you learn not to be hurt by the opinion of others”.
“In many cases, we are still pending what they will say, but the judgment we make of ourselves is harder. As an anxious professional, I ask for more money for mental health, because it is important to invest in feeling good, in having tools to get out of difficult situations, because we all go through these from time to time ”, she warned.
Her role as Mari Carmen, the cashier of “El super” changed her life and made her a well-known actress beyond her native Galicia, thanks to a three-month contract, which became seven, and which ended up extending for more than three years -she participated in more than 700 episodes of this series-.
The same as ever
“I am the same brute from then, and also the same girl who played with chemistry and dreamed of being a scientist, because I have never lost the desire to try new things and that eagerness to discover, although time allows you to learn and measure”, she has confessed.
He has an important tour ahead with “El amor enamorado”, which he combines with other television works and with a performance with his group “Teté y los ciclones”, with which he will enjoy his other passion, music, in La Rioja and Ponferrada, in August and September, respectively. EFE
