PP sources have confirmed this meeting, which did not appear on the agenda, and which took place at the party’s national headquarters, where at 5:00 p.m. the National Board of Directors is convened, the largest management body between congresses, of which all the barons are a part. The PP will openly broadcast Feijóo’s speech in front of his party.
The PP achieved 136 seats yesterday, 47 more than in 2019, which, however, are insufficient to form a government, since the sum with the 33 deputies achieved by Vox leaves them seven seats from the absolute, and adding minorities such as the Canary Islands Coalition or UPN would only reach 171 yeses, while Sánchez could put together a sum of 172.
Feijóo announced yesterday that he will try to form a government because he has been the most voted for and asked the rest of the parties, and specifically the PSOE, not to cause a blockade and allow him to govern, a scenario that various voices within the PP see as more than unlikely.
Sources from the national leadership of the PP blame the fragmentation of the vote of their bloc, divided between PP and Vox, for not having achieved the expected result because they have lost the tightest seats in the provinces that distributed fewer deputies.
This Monday, in the middle of an electoral hangover, the PP has changed the canvas of its headquarters, where a “thank you” now appears, replacing the campaign slogan: “It is time.”
