Mogyorod (Hungary), (EFE).- The Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull) further strengthened his leadership in the Formula One World Championship by winning the Hungarian Grand Prix this Sunday, the eleventh of the year, which was held at the Hungaroring, the circuit on the outskirts of Budapest; where the Spanish Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) finished eighth and ninth, respectively.
Verstappen, 25, signed his ninth victory of the season, his forty-fourth in F1, by winning ahead of Englishman Lando Norris (McLaren) – who repeated second place at Silverstone (Great Britain) two weeks ago – and the other Red Bull, Mexican Sergio Pérez, who started ninth and advanced six places to finish third.
With this victory for the Dutch star, Red Bull broke McLaren’s all-time record for consecutive wins in Formula One, which in 1988 won the first eleven of that year. The Austrian team scored the first eleven this season; and added the one from the last race last year, which ‘Mad Max’ also won.
The seven-time English champion Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), who had started from pole position, finished fourth, one place ahead of the other McLaren, the Australian Oscar Piastri.
