Kiev, (EFE).- The Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmitro Kuleba, will visit the African continent for the third time in the context of the worsening world food crisis after Russia’s withdrawal from the Black Sea Grain Initiative, with a tour that begins today in Equatorial Guinea.
In a statement, the ministry specifies that Kuleba’s visit to Equatorial Guinea between today and tomorrow is the first to this country in the history of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
In the capital, Malabo, the minister will hold talks with the country’s leaders on the development of bilateral relations, the increase in the volume of trade, the guarantee of food security in Africa and support for the Peace Formula of the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski.
“The development of relations with African countries strengthens the global coalition in support of Ukraine in the context of Russian aggression and creates new opportunities for Ukrainian companies and citizens,” the statement stressed.
Ukraine approved its strategy for Africa in January 2022, within the framework of which the president, the Foreign Ministry and parliamentary diplomacy significantly intensified contacts with African countries.
The first African tour of the head of Ukrainian diplomacy took place in October last year, when he traveled to Senegal, the Ivory Coast, Ghana and Kenya, and the second, in May this year, with visits to Morocco, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Mozambique and Nigeria.
Kuleba’s third African tour is a continuation of the African strategy and “the revival of Ukrainian-African relations,” the ministry adds.
