Mogyorod (Hungary), (EFE).- The Spanish Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), who set the eighth time in the free practice day for the Hungarian Grand Prix, the eleventh Formula One World Cup, said this Friday at the Hungaroring, the circuit on the outskirts of Budapest, that they optimized “the second” test (it was barely filmed in the morning) and that, “in general terms” he is “quite happy”.
“It was a mixed day with some rain and quite a bit of wind at the Hungaroring”, commented the Asturian double world champion at the circuit where he achieved, almost twenty years ago, the first of his 32 Formula One victories.
“We lost time in the first free practice, in which we could barely ride; but that was the same for everyone”, commented Fernando, in a second youth a few days after his 42nd birthday.
“I think we optimized the second free practice, in which we collected a lot of data, especially as far as race preparation is concerned,” said Alonso, the great sensation of the season, with six podiums in the first ten tests, which place him third overall: 118 of the 255 points with which the Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull) leads, eleventh this Friday.
“Overall, I’m pretty happy with the day; We will have to see what we can do tomorrow in qualifying, in which hopefully we will ride in dry conditions”, pointed out the great Asturian driver this Friday at the Hungaroring.
