Madrid, (EFE).- The premiere of “Barbie” yesterday in theaters swept the Spanish box office with 1.8 million euros collected, well ahead of “Oppenheimer”, also released one day earlier than usual, which, with its three hours duration, achieved 100,000 viewers and a collection of 667,000 euros.
As expected due to the previous publicity bombardment and the high quality of both films, the “Barbenheimer” phenomenon has managed to boost the attendance of spectators to theaters until this week became the week with the most moviegoers registered in all of 2023, with more than two million viewers, ComScore Movies Spain has confirmed to EFE.
Both films have over 300,000 viewers, a figure that is also exceptional in the case of “Oppenheimer” since the film lasts three hours and offers fewer sessions, sources from Universal Pictures have explained to EFE.
They have also confirmed that it is Christopher Nolan’s biggest premiere since he released “The Dark Knight Reborn” in 2012.
As reported to EFE by the film consultant, “Barbie” heads the list of the most viewed films yesterday, followed by “Oppenheimer”, “Elemental”, which premiered the previous Friday, “Insidious: The Red Door” and “Summer Holidays”, by Santiago Segura, on the bill since last July 6.
They continue on the list of most viewed tapes “Mission Impossible: Deadly Judgment. Part 1”, “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate”, “Spider-Man: Across the Multiverse” and “I am madly loving you”. The children’s film “The Little Mermaid” closes the list in tenth place, in theaters since the end of May.
