In an interview in the ABC newspaper published this Thursday, the candidate for the Presidency of the Government added on this issue that “when the center-right begins to disintegrate, populism comes and the left comes.”
Feijóo has said that the center-right “until a very short time ago was united”, that “now it has gone through a time with two divisions, Ciudadanos and Vox”, and that his party aspires “to collect the majority of the Ciudadanos vote”, although “it is still a little more complex than then”.
In addition, the popular leader has highlighted that his party needs a result that accompanies and prevents a blockade by Sánchez, “which Spain has already blocked twice.”
rule alone
Asked why he conditions his actions to what another party decides and sees the PSOE better than Vox, he replied: “We have clearly said that, if we unite the vote, if the Vox voters who left return to the PP, the PP can govern alone”.
“In Vox there are leaders who were from the PP and the majority of the voters were from the PP. It is legitimate that the PP tries to recover them, which is what we did with Ciudadanos ”, he stated.
Likewise, he has highlighted that “it is evident that there are many differences between the PSOE and Vox”, but he has stressed that there is a coincidence of temporary interest, and it is “that the two do not want the PP to get a good result”.
“I am concerned about the anti-vaccination Vox leaders. I am concerned about the leaders of Vox who continue to be obsessed with denying sexist violence. I am concerned about some leaders of Vox who have animosity to the State of the autonomies. I worry about climate change deniers. But it is true that there is a more constitutional, pragmatic and liberal part of Vox that we have to recover ”, he highlighted.
Laws to repeal
The PP candidate has assured that in his first council of ministers he has in mind to approve “an intense reduction of the ministerial structures”, since, he added, “we have a third of the ministries left over”.
He has also pointed out that he will approve the reduction of personal income tax for incomes of less than 40,000 euros, that he will lower VAT on fish, meat and preserves and that he would like to “introduce a reduction in VAT for hairdressers”.
“The organic law to reform the General Council of the Judiciary is also urgent. A new housing law is urgent. It is urgent to repeal the “Bildu law”, the misnamed Law of Democratic Memory. A new Trans law is urgently needed to avoid irreversible hormones and surgical interventions in adolescents. And immerse ourselves in the world of European funds, which have not reached the real economy”, she asserted.
The crime of sedition
Regarding the political situation in Catalonia and the Basque Country, he has highlighted that the independence movement can expect dialogue “but not submission” from him, while adding that “the State is unprotected by the elimination of the crime of sedition”, for which he will replace it and classify the illegal referendum.
Regarding whether it will maintain the Minimum Vital Income, it has indicated that “it will maintain integration aid and income for the most vulnerable citizens, those who need the State the most.”
“What we are going to do is improve them so that they reach everyone, because the reality is that many of those who have requested the IMV are not receiving it,” he assured.
On whether pensions will always and all be revalued in accordance with the CPI, he has answered that this is his commitment and that “it appears as such in the Toledo Pact”.
“I insist that the PP has always revalued pensions -some years below the CPI and others above- and the PSOE is the only one that has frozen them, with Zapatero as president and with Sánchez’s vote”, he highlighted.
In relation to Spain’s relations with Morocco, he stressed that “it is a preferred partner” and that his intention is to maintain “a stable and fruitful relationship that benefits both parties based on mutual respect.”
