San Juan (EFE).- The opening of the Premios Juventud 2023, which will be held this Thursday in Puerto Rico, will start with a dedication to reggaeton by Daddy Yankee, one of the pioneers of the genre, and the music producer duo Luny Tunes.
The musical start, which will have the participation of more than a dozen artists of the urban genre on stage at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico, in San Juan, “will celebrate the explosion that reggaeton has had among young people worldwide,” highlighted the production of the event this Tuesday in a press release.
Reggaeton at the center of everything
Alexis and Fido, Angel and Khriz, Chencho Corleone, Chesca, De La Ghetto, DJ Playero, Khea, Omar Courtz, RaiNao, RKM & Ken-Y, Wisin and Zion and Lennox will be the artists who will be in charge of this tribute.
Daddy Yankee, self-styled “The Boss” of reggaeton, contributed his musical work at the opening of his new role as businessman and producer.
Also known as “El Big Boss” is the top winner of Premios Juventud with 23 awards, including recognition as “Change Agent” in 2021.
This year, said recognition will be given to the Colombian artist Shakira.
The recognition values the extensive work of the artist in transforming communities through her Pies Descalzos Foundation.
For the past six years, Premios Juventud has been committed to highlighting change agents, both artists and Latino youth who use their platform for the greater good.
This recognition in the past has been awarded to other artists such as Maluma, J Balvin, Kany Garcia, Jenni Rivera Foundation, Ricky Martin, Becky G, Pitbull and Wisin and Yandel.

In this year’s edition, Wisin and the Jowell & Randy duo will premiere their most recent collaboration, “Baja Sube Sube”, on television, as will Omar Courtz and Chencho Corleone to sing the song “Saoco”.
Bad Bunny, Becky G, Maluma, Rauw Alejandro, Rosalía, Shakira, Grupo Frontera, Featherweight and TINI lead the 2023 Youth Awards with nine nominations.
