In his speech during a colorful event held at the headquarters of the South American soccer governing body, in the Paraguayan city of Luque, Domínguez stressed that the 2024 Copa América is “a new opportunity for those teams that believe big and want to make history.” .
He recalled that this trophy has been won 15 times by Argentina and Uruguay and nine times by Brazil, among others.
A message was also broadcast from the president of the Confederation of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (Concacaf), Canadian Victor Montagliani, who predicted that the Copa América will be a “very exciting competition” and a tournament that promises “great games and moments”. .
According to Conmebol, the visual identity “is inspired by the symbols that represent the host country and seeks to be a tribute to football, its players and the unconditional fans who closely follow the competition.”
In a statement, the agency highlighted the use of colors such as blue, red and white, and elements such as the stars characteristic of the US flag, and indicated that “for this occasion they also symbolize the sky and the maximum exponents of this sport”.
The logo, added the note, “puts the competition’s trophy in the center, the fans who support their teams in each game, and the best players in the world.”
The 2024 Copa América will start on June 20 of next year in the United States and will conclude on July 14.
