Renedo, (EFE).- The mayor of Piélagos, Carlos Caramés (PP), has faced this first month of municipal management in an “exciting” way for carrying out projects, although he acknowledges that some will be the continuation of the previous government team (PSOE , PRC and AVIP), which “has done things well, but many others have not”.
In an interview with EFE in his office in the Piélagos City Hall, where he has been having a “very intense” few weeks and is happy to have “very committed” officials, Caramés has assured that he thinks about projects for Piélagos and not who has proposed or carried out.
“If they (previous government team) had started them, then perfect because that means we were on the same idea. No, because that is what we have committed ourselves to”, points out the new mayor of Piélagos, who has stressed that any project that is successful will continue.
Caramés, who has an absolute majority of 13 councilors compared to the five that the PSOE has, one from the PRC, one from Vox and one from OVIP, assures that he expected “a lot of support” from the residents of Piélagos, but not “so overwhelming ”.
The new mayor faces this stage with an “enormous responsibility” and a “greater commitment” to the residents who have placed their trust in his party (PP) which, after two legislatures where there has been a tripartite party, governs alone.
But, in addition to making his debut as mayor, Caramés also faces a new and first stage as a deputy in the Parliament of Cantabria with “excitement”, a position that he believes is “something good” for Piélagos, as well as for all the municipalities that are part of it. from Arco de Bahía, since they may have similar needs.
Transportation to the Arc de Bahía
“One of the issues that I think is essential for Piélagos and for various municipalities around the bay is urban transport, around Santander and Torrelavega”, he explained.
And it is that, in his opinion, Piélagos is in the middle of the municipalities that make up the Arco de la Bahía and if a solution is sought for Piélagos, a solution will be found for the rest of the municipalities in the area.
However, he has stressed that his “full” commitment and dedication will be in the Piélagos City Hall, while in the Parliament of Cantabria he will go to plenary sessions (on Monday afternoons), which he has ensured is “compatible” with the mayor activity.
Caramés has also indicated that he will participate in all those commissions in which he may have knowledge, since “he comes from the world of tax advice and management”, but also in those that may be positive for the municipalities of the Arco de Bahía.
mayor & deputy
“I will participate in all that because I believe and consider that the work that I develop there will in turn be positive for the City Council,” he defended.
Among the initiatives that he hopes to be able to develop in the Cantabrian Parliament is the modification of the regulations that regulate the parking of motorhomes, since – he assures – his municipality is one of the main affected by this type of tourism.
