Madrid (EFE).- Correos has already made more than 2.3 million electoral documents available so that citizens who have requested postal voting can exercise this right in the general elections on July 23, EFE was informed this Monday sources of the postal company.
The figure represents an increase since last Friday of some 400,000 electoral documents already delivered and is close to the requests for voting by mail planned for these elections, which have reached the historical record of 2,622,808 requests.
This volume of requests represents 80.45% more than that computed for the general elections of June 26, 2016 (1,453,446 requests) which, until now, marked the maximum for democracy.
Next Thursday (July 20) is the deadline for voters to deposit their postal vote at the Post Office for the general elections on 23-J.
The novelty of this electoral call
As a novelty, in these elections voters will have to exercise their right to vote personally, as stipulated by the Central Electoral Board (JEC) in the face of fraud that occurred in Melilla and other locations.
Those who have requested to vote by mail will have to deposit their envelopes and ballot papers at the Post Office after accreditation through ID, passport, driver’s license or any other valid document that allows the voter to be identified.
The correspondence addressed to the polling stations will be kept until July 23, when the Post Office will transfer it to the polling stations at nine in the morning and, throughout the day, the votes that could be received that same day could continue to be sent. until eight in the evening, when the polling stations close.
