Oviedo (EFE).- The acting president of the Principality, Adrián Barbón, has promised to promote an institutional declaration, which has the support of all political forces, in support of the demands of the Chambers of Commerce to improve competitiveness of the Atlantic Arc.
The presidents of the chamber entities of Oviedo, Carlos Paniceres, of Gijón, Félix Baragaño, and of Avilés, Daniel González, held a meeting this Monday with the head of the Executive to present him with the declaration signed on June 21 in Bilbao by the Atlantic Chambers of Commerce.
Barbón has defended the main challenges shared by these regions, such as the construction of an “Atlantic macro-region” that allows these territories to “advance in common positions”.
Consensus for the benefit of Asturias
Likewise, it has valued the lines of work that the chambers will promote to improve connectivity, through an Atlantic railway corridor that will be “fundamental”, and in defense of “sustainable diversification” and entrepreneurship and the implementation implementation of measures that contribute to sustainability, innovation and internationalization and to promote active ageing.
According to Barbón, it is necessary to “go beyond” this document, which is why he has promised to promote an institutional declaration that has contributions from parliamentary groups.
The acting President of the Principality has underlined the importance of reaching an agreement on this matter for the benefit of the interests of Asturias.
For his part, the head of the Chamber of Commerce of Oviedo has trusted that the “Atlantic macro-region” is a “reality” with the aim of making it a “more competitive, sustainable, dynamic, connected and attractive territory” and that be “stronger before Europe”.
In this sense, he wanted the institutional declaration to have the support of all the groups, because “we must put what unites us first and not what separates us”. EFE
