Zaragoza (EFE).- Alberto Núñez Feijóo considers that it would be nonsense for Pedro Sánchez to remain head of the opposition if he loses the Government after the general elections on July 23, as the popular ones expect.
This was expressed by the PP candidate this Saturday in an informal conversation with journalists held this Saturday on the campaign bus. At his rallies he has even asked the socialist electorate to vote for them to change the general secretary.
In addition, in an interview with El Español, published this Sunday, Feijóo affirms that “Vox is not a good partner” and that he feels “closer” to the president of Castilla-La Mancha, the socialist Emiliano García Page. “If I need 20 seats, I’ll talk to the PSOE,” he says.
This message, which is addressed to both Vox and the Socialists, is repeated, but gains integers as the days go by, when the PP stresses that it has twenty seats left to reach an absolute majority.
If they only achieve half of this goal, they could reach around 168 seats, a figure that Feijóo sees as feasible and that would lead the PP to attempt an investiture without Vox, looking for parties like the PNV and appealing to the abstention of the left.
So high are the spirits in the PP that Feijóo has already indicated, both in public and in private, that an absolute majority is not impossible, although it is unlikely.
Feijóo does not expect a collapse of Sánchez
The leader of the PP does not, however, expect a collapse of his socialist rival. Feijóo explained to the journalists that what Sánchez is losing in the center is being recovered in the electorate to his left.
Feijóo believes that the PSOE remains at 28% of the vote because it feeds on Sumar voters. In his opinion, the PSOE inflated Yolanda Díaz’s platform, divided her space and now it is crushing it because this candidacy plays the game of appealing to the useful vote against Vox.
In addition, he reacts with irony to the claim that Sánchez makes of his career to convince his constituents that victory is possible. It would certainly be against all odds, he noted.
Regarding Vox, although Feijóo maintains in El Español that it would not be a good partner, in conversation with journalists he has admitted that he is not asking that they give him the investiture, but rather that they not vote with “sanchismo” and assumes that later, during the legislature They would have to be understood because the PP would have to go through the Vox window to approve laws.
The PP candidate does not understand the attitude of Santiago Abascal when he stated that he would have to hit himself on the head to allow the popular Fernando López Miras to govern in the Region of Murcia without entering its executive.
He is not worried about being the indirect protagonist of the three-way debate
Feijóo is counting on the fact that he can be the protagonist indirectly in the three-way debate on July 19 on RTVE, but he assures that he is not worried.
On the other hand, he was concerned that Sánchez intended to stage in a four-way debate that he goes with his vice president, Yolanda Díaz and Feijóo, with his, Santiago Abascal, a link that the PP rejects. The real debate should be seven, with PNV, ERC and EH Bildu, insists Feijóo.
