Bilbao (EFE).- A minor under the age of 16 has died and six other people have been injured in a fire that broke out this morning in a building in Barakaldo.
As reported by the Basque Department of Security, the fire started at 2:45 in the morning in building number 2 in Plaza Auzolan, in the center of the city.
A high intensity fire
The structure of the building, with four floors, is made of wood and the fire became very intense.

Four adults and two minors were transferred to the Cruces hospital, in Barakaldo, and there was also a missing person.
When the fire was put out, the firefighters found inside the lifeless body of the missing 16-year-old minor.
A witness has declared to Radio Euskadi that the flames devastated the building’s wooden staircase and that several residents, including some minors, had to jump from the windows.
Four buildings evacuated
The Barakaldo Local Police, in collaboration with the firefighters from the Bizkaia Provincial Council, have evacuated four buildings and the affected families have been transferred to the Larrea school to spend the night.

The municipal services, teams of psychologists and the mayoress, Amaia del Campo, who went to Plaza Auzolan, attended to the family of the deceased minor.
During the morning, the firefighters and the Local Police continue to work to ensure safety in the damaged building and the surrounding areas.
The building in which the fire broke out, which presents a risk of collapse and which will remain empty, will be inspected by municipal architects to check the structure when the firefighters secure the area.
The Barakaldo City Council has convened a Board of Spokespersons to determine the actions to be taken by the City Council.
