Los Angeles (USA. (EFE).- Since the Hollywood scriptwriters began their strike in May, series and films had to stop their production and now, with the union of the US Actors Union (SAG- Aftra) joining the strike, titles like “Deadpool 3” and “Bad Boys 4” will be strongly affected.
On July 13, members of the interpreters’ union announced that, after failing to reach an agreement on the realization of a new collective agreement with the Alliance of Film and Television Producers (Amptp), which represents large studios such as Disney, Netflix, Amazon and HBO, they would go on an indefinite strike.
The notice was accompanied by a list of prohibited activities for its more than 160,000 members, including working on any project in which the Amptp was involved, taking part in promotional tours, giving job interviews, participating in conventions, participating at festivals etc
The mandate has left studios without options, and without actors who can be part of their series and movies, they will be forced to pause all filming and productions that are in progress.
The second part of “Gladiator”, this time starring Paul Mescal and with Pedro Pascal in its cast, has had to stop the recordings that were already taking place in Malta.
The same has happened with the third part of “Deadpool”, in which Hugh Jackman will appear in his role as Wolverine, whose end of filming was scheduled for September.
Tom Cruise will also not be able to resume production of “Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part 2” that was scheduled for once the promotion of the franchise’s seventh film ended.
Another interrupted sequel is the second part of “Beetlejuice”, the film starring Michael Keaton, Jenna Ortega and Monica Bellucci.
Although the film finished shooting in England, the strike will affect the American part of the production.
Likewise, the film adaptation of the Broadway musical “Wicked” will resume its recordings once the actors’ strike has ended.
Jon M. Chu’s film has Ariana Grande in its cast in the role of Glinda, while Cynthia Erivo will give life to the witch Elphaba.
“Bad Boys 4”, with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, was also at the beginning of its production when the strike broke out, and other film titles such as “It Ends with Us” (Sony) and “The Killer” (Universal Pictures) they will also remain braked.
On television, writers have previously managed to “close” a large number of series, some with great recognition such as “Abbott Elementary”, “Severance”, “Cobra Kai” and “Stranger Things”, in addition to late-night talk shows.
