Valencia (EFE) They are not ours.”
This has been stated in his first statements in the plenary session in which he has been elected president of the corporation after the tie between blocks (on the one hand, the PP and Vox, on the other, the PSPV and Compromís) that the deputy has not undone of Ens Uneix in two votes, in which she has voted for herself, with which Mompó has been chosen, representative of the force with the most votes.
Apologize to Jorge Rodríguez
Mompó has apologized to the former president of the Provincial Council with the PSPV-PSOE and leader of Ens Uneix, Jorge Rodríguez. He has affirmed that “the pain that he has gone through is not deserved by anyone, especially hard-working people.”
Rodríguez had to leave the presidency of the Diputación and the PSPV when he was arrested for the Alquería case, from which he was acquitted.
In Mompó’s opinion, Ens Uneix has given “a lesson in honesty and high politics” and a demonstration that “politics can be done in another way”, and he has thanked Rodríguez for accepting “late apologies”.
“We will not fail them”
“Valencians are honest, hard-working, word-minded people and we are no different, rest assured, we will not let you down”, said the mayor of Gavarda, who has considered the Diputación as a “vital institution, especially for smaller towns ”.
Mompó has promised a “positive Provincial Council” and added: “No more giving public money to organizations that promote a culture and language that are not ours.”
Likewise, he has shown himself willing to “honor our past, ours, live in the present and carve out our future”, as well as “aware of the need to reach agreements”, something that he has stressed that he will do “not only with the 16 deputies necessary for the absolute majority but with the 31 of the corporation”.
“I will worry about our culture and the hallmarks of identity”
“I will be especially concerned about our culture and hallmarks, especially our language, Valencian, and our agriculture, which makes us proud of its very high quality”, he stressed and also referred to “the most serious pandemic of our towns, depopulation”, as well as tourism and forest management.
“In a moment of emotion and responsibility, thanks to each resident of our province for making the PP the list with the most votes,” added Mompó, who said that “it is this legitimacy with which we have presented our candidacy and for the that we will govern”.
“Now we have to offer new glories to Valencia”
He has also said that he will work “for Valencia and for the Valencians”, which he has described as “the greatest land of the world”, and not for other communities”: “Other communities that we respect, but that are not our land”.
The new provincial president has celebrated that the Provincial Council has changed its political sign: “It is our turn to offer new glories to Valencia, it is our turn to Valencian civil law, fair financing and the Mediterranean corridor, among other things.”
At the end of the plenary session, the Socialists applauded their candidate for the presidency of the Provincial Council, Carlos Fernández Bielsa, with shouts of “dignity, dignity.”
