The investiture plenary session will begin at 10 a.m. in Les Corts Valencianes with the intervention of Mazón, the only candidate who has presented himself for the position, after his party obtained 40 of the 99 seats in the regional elections on May 28 provided by the Valencian Parliament.
After Mazón’s speech, who has no time limit, the Presidency of Les Corts, in the hands of Vox, will suspend the session for a period of no more than 24 hours, which is normally about 30 minutes.
Once the session resumes, the parliamentary groups from highest to lowest representation (PSPV-PSOE, Compromís and Vox) will intervene, except for the group to which the candidate belongs (PP), which will do so last, for a period of 30 minutes each one.
Mazón will be able to answer jointly or separately to the representatives of the groups for a maximum time of 30 minutes, after which each group will have ten minutes of reply and Mazón will close with another ten minutes.
After the debate, the Presidency of Les Corts will announce the time of the vote, which will be public by call, and will suspend the session until then.
Government agreement with Vox
If the candidate obtains an absolute majority in the Chamber (50 seats), which is foreseeable since Vox, which has 13 deputies, has already announced that it will vote in favor of the investiture, Carlos Mazón will be elected president of the Generalitat.
He will thus become the seventh president of the Generalitat, the fifth of the PP after Eduardo Zaplana, José Luis Olivas, Francisco Camps and Alberto Fabra.
Vox has assured on several occasions that it will support the popular candidate, with whom it has signed a government agreement that will allow him to hold a vice presidency and lead three ministries.
For their part, the PSPV and Compromís have advanced that they will vote against the investiture of Mazón, since they consider that the government coalition agreed between the PP and Vox is “the pact of shame.”
