Logroño, (EFE).- The three children of the woman murdered this Saturday in Logroño, for which her husband has been imprisoned as the alleged perpetrator of the homicide, have testified this Wednesday before the Court of Violence against Women of La Rioja.
Sources of the investigation have explained to EFE that the minors, aged 7, 9 and 11, have testified from the so-called “Gesell Chamber” of the Superior Court of Justice (TSJ) of La Rioja, which has allowed them not to see the judge or the parties in person, but they have been able to do so through a unilateral vision glass.
The children have been accompanied by a psychologist for minors, who is part of the court’s multidisciplinary team, to whom, in a relaxed atmosphere and in a manner appropriate to their age, they have been formulating the questions that, through an earphone, transmitted by the judge and the parties.
The room simulates a children’s room, with low tables and chairs and drawings, so that minors do not feel impressed by what a court entails.
This family arrived in La Rioja in 2016, coming from the refugee camps in Lebanon, to which they moved after fleeing Syria, their country; and there were no previous complaints of gender violence
The three children, since their mother, Salwa, was murdered and their father arrested, have been under the guardianship of the social services of the Autonomous Community of La Rioja, with the expectation that their maternal family will take care of them, who resides in Germany.
Sources close to the victim have explained to EFE that the grandfather and a maternal uncle of Salwa, 34 years old and a trained psychologist, plan to arrive in Logroño from Berlin in the next few hours, between this Wednesday and Thursday, to process the transfer of small ones and bury the victim as soon as possible.
The father, 44 years old and an industrial engineer, declared this Tuesday before the judge that he agreed to unconditional imprisonment for him.
The attacker was arrested last Saturday afternoon in the area known as La Isla, next to the fourth bridge over the Ebro, after being rescued from the river, into which he had thrown himself without knowing how to swim.
At that time, he told the Police that his deceased wife could be found at his home, whom the agents found already dead with stab wounds.
The initial data of the investigation indicate that, after the homicide, this man went to look for his children at a municipal library near his home, from which the four went to this area of the Ebro and, presumably, also tried to drown to the minors, who do not know how to swim either, although one of them fled and was able to ask for help.
