Pamplona (EFE).- The seventh day of the Sanfermines festival in 2023 has been dedicated to the elderly. The weather has also been with them on this special day for them and the fact is that the temperatures have dropped considerably and have not exceeded 27 degrees, a breather, after several days hovering around 35.
At 8 in the morning, the sixth running of the bulls began with bulls from the Extremadura ranch, known for its races full of danger and practically always some goring, but this time they have finished the course in two minutes and twenty-three seconds without hardly being distracted by anything Nor nobody.
The injury report has left three transferred to the Hospital, one with an ankle fracture, another with knee erosion and the last one has suffered a dislocated shoulder.
This afternoon, the right-handers Antonio Ferrera, El Juli and Cayetano Rivera will be in charge of fighting the six Jandilla bulls in the Monumental Pamplonesa.
Mass in honor of the elderly
The official program of the San Fermín festivities dedicates this day to the elderly who have had the visit of the municipal corporation in the Casa de Misericordia, a meeting that has been enlivened by the group of jotas Voces Navarras and during the that a pin with the official shield of the City Council has been given as a gift to the elderly people in attendance. Previously, a mass had been celebrated in his honor in the San Fermín chapel.
The liveliest have danced and sung to the rhythm of this genre so deeply rooted in the Sanfermines, but all of them have attended an open-air event in which the mayoress of Pamplona, Cristina Ibarrola, has assured that “the elderly are very important, we owe them a lot, they give us a lot, we are who they are, what we are as a city, as people”.
“Today is one of the most emotional acts of Sanfermines. I think that seeing this image is good, it is very gratifying and also not having held a reception at the Town Hall and getting closer here is a bit of what we wanted to show of a Town Hall that is closer to the environment of the people”, he declared.
Smiles, applause, emotion and dances have been the color note of a day in which all of them are once again the center of the party, as they were for so many years. This was recognized by the mayoress, who explained that they were the ones who taught the rest to live the Sanfermines, its traditions and to enjoy the festival.
Mocedades, in the Plaza de la Cruz
Thinking of them, the performance of Mocedades in the Plaza de la Cruz has also been programmed for this day. This will not be, however, the only performance on July 12. In the Plaza del Castillo you can listen to En Tol Sarmiento, a band from Alava, one of the most acclaimed in 2023 in terms of groups in Basque with their ska-rock proposal and songs full of positivity.
On this day, some information about the festivities was also known, such as that there were 20 percent more people over the weekend and on Saturday in particular, through the mobile signal, 290,000 people were counted compared to 240,000 on the previous year, indicated the mayoress, who has made a positive assessment of the festivities so far.
The musical proposals that have taken place on stages of the San Fermín 2023 program have brought together 188,300 attendances at concerts, DJ sessions, festivals and medium-sized proposals in the first 6 days of the festival.
In the events section, it should be noted that the Provincial Police have arrested three people, members of a criminal group, with multiple records, for robbing people who were sleeping inside vehicles in city parking lots.
